10 Skills for Getting the SUCCESS YOU WANT! (Part 3)

October 23, 2006

We have learnt 4 skills so far and today, I’m going to share with you the 5th, 6th and 7th. Remember I talked about how to use different gears of learning? Well, the 5th skill is similar and that is:

#5 Using Other’s Expertise

It is often that we don’t know enough to call ourselves and expert and sometimes, we always waste time trying to find answers which we think, we’ll never be able to find. There are experts available around us, be them our professors, our bosses, teachers or even some guru over the internet. They are around us and we can always seek answers and help from these people around. These experts know their stuff and we have to learn from them in order to improve our knowledge and understanding.

We need to change to gear 1 and learn from the leader and ask them questions which we don’t know how to answer in order to learn.

#6. Deleting Your Failures

In order to achieve success, we need to be able to face our failures. We have to learn from our mistakes and experiences and move on. Here, “Success is deletion of your failures.” Because you need to learn from your failures, pick up the learning tips and delete them away. How? To not let similar incidents from happening. You have to make sure that you don’t commit the same mistakes.

Why do people do the same thing even though they were previously wrong? That is because they have not learnt from their mistake. You have to make sure you know where you went wrong and why you went wrong. You even need to find out how you went wrong. If you must, find an expert to tell you the areas which you have gone wrong and also find out how to correct your mistakes and improve yourself.

Ask the expert, if you are not convinced and make him/her go through with you slowly the wrong steps you took and the correct ones you should take. If not, you have to independently find out your mistakes in order to be able to learn from them.

#7. Commiting to Outcome

This skill is rather self- explanatory. Why? Because it is just to tell you to commit yourself to the outcome or your goal. You need to be able to convince yourself why and how much you want the success and when faced with obstacles, you are not deterred. You have to make sure that no matter what, that you don’t give yourself excuses and leave no exceptions.

Ask yourself, how committed are you to achieving your success? Write it down in a huge piece of paper and stick it somewhere prominent to remind you.

Now, we recognize the importance of an expert around us and we need them to achieve success for ourselves. Though it sometimes may be embarrassing to approach the expert, but it is worth it. Always tell yourself that it is not wrong to admit to your mistakes and to learn from them. And if you are an egoistic person, tell yourself that it is not wrong to be wrong and to get someone to teach you instead. Lastly, remember to remain committed to your goals in order to achieve success.
